Unlike many larger charities, we do not currently have the resources to purchase places in bulk for multiple fundraising races and events.
This is why we encourage those fundraising for Alopecia UK to purchase their own place in organised events. Please note that individual entry in these events is often cheaper than an entry place that the charity would purchase.
In return for you securing your own place in a fundraising event, we will gladly provide you with an Alopecia UK t-shirt, assistance with setting up an online fundraising page and/or paper sponsorship forms. We are very keen to support our fundraisers. Without individuals choosing to raise money for us, Alopecia UK would not exist. Our fundraisers are all heroes to us! If you are planning to do some fundraising for Alopecia UK, please email our Communications & Fundraising Manager, Amy Johnson to let her know your plans and she will try to support: email@example.com
We’ve taken the time to pick out a small selection of events for which you might wish to purchase your own entry to raise funds for Alopecia UK.
Running events are also held throughout the UK, from North to South! Distances vary from 5k up to marathons. The most famous and popular of all the Great Runs is the Great North Run, which in 2014 celebrated its 1 millionth runner. The Great Run Company also offer junior events too - perfect for any younger runners wanting to get involved in a spot of fundraising for Alopecia UK.
It says it's the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet’ which is quite a claim! Get covered from head to toe in a rainbow of colours at five stations around the course. You can choose to run, walk, skip or dance your way around the course. It's all about the fun and what gives you the biggest smiles!
For all those water babies out there, why not make a splash for Alopecia UK!? These swimming events are staged in lakes, lochs and urban docks around the UK in five locations, giving you the chance to swim in placed you may never have thought possible. The locations for 2017 are: Windermere in Cumbria, Alton Water in Suffolk, Salford Docks in Manchester, Loch Lomond in Scotland or in the heart of London.
We receive a lot of interest from people asking us if we have charity places in the London Marathon. It’s a very popular event and as such it is difficult to get a place via the individual ballot. A charity the size of Alopecia UK only gets one marathon place every five years via the charity ballot. Our next charity place will be in 2018! If you are lucky enough to get a place via the individual ballot and would like to raise funds for Alopecia UK, we would be as pleased as punch, and happy to support in any way we can!
