Hi Colette, I've used Regain 5% for over three years now.  It's a long term thing...once you start using it you have to keep using it otherwise the hair that may have been saved, could be lost if you stop applying it.

The Regaine, together with the other forms of treatment I've had over the last three years, has definitely helped to halt my FFA (front fibrosing alopecia).  I've gone from going to the hospital every month, to every three months and at my last appointment, they said I was fine to not return for a year!  Obviously with the caveat that if I noticed any change to get back in touch with them (touch wood, I'm still stable so don't need to return until next March).  

You get a bit more shedding at first when you start using Regaine but that soon settles down.  Has your GP prescribed the antihistamines because of the reaction you've experienced with Regaine?
