I've bought synthetic wigs since having total hair loss for 8 years..are human hair wigs a better choice and how long do they usually last... ? Never been fully happy with synthetic ones end up buying one every 10 weeks

Hi

I have a human hair wig, but did invest in an expense one; it is made of virgin European hair.  I have a cheap synthetic one that I sometimes wear around the house, but I find it quite itchy to wear. I can't seem to find a synthetic one that looks real on me either.  I think I should get three years out of the human hair one, so maybe quite good value for money.  At the moment, I am trying to look into buying a cheaper human hair wig, but wonder how long it would last.  There are too many choices!

Thanks I agree can't seem to find a synthetic wig that I feel 100% happy in have tried different styles. I have a shortish one at the moment but would quite like a longer one. Think will take the plunge and buy a human hair 😊

Hi there,

I'm sorry you're having difficulty with your new wig.

If the itching is on the scalp, I'd recommend getting a bamboo wig cap; these are a super soft cap that fit directly under the wig and should prevent any itching. Lots of people swear by them. You can easily pick them up on Amazon.

If you're having trouble with the hairs tickling you, experiment with some up-dos. I wear mine in a bun or in plaits.

Hope this helps

Hi Jenny,

Thank you so much for your suggestion I will buy a bamboo skull cap today. I have spent £3000 on this wig and am so disappointed with the problems I have been experiencing. The itching has been so bad I can only wear the wig for an hour or so. I thought all my problems would be solved if I had a handmade human hair wig made and not a synthetic one but not so. Thank you again for your suggestion.

Regards

Dilys
