I have had AA for several years now and have lost the majority of my hair. I have an 'alopecia line' which is about 2.5 inches above my ears, and runs from one side of my head to the other - below that line I have lost all hair.
Although the AA is still advancing up my scalp, there are some areas of growth next to my ears. However, this hair is white! Has anyone else had this? Is it normal? Can I dye it? And if so, does anyone have experience of a good brand of dye?
I often go 'wigless' around the house, and would love to not have white patches.
Hi Heidi 😊, I have had AA for seven years and I go through phases (depending on the growth I have) to shaving the bits off that are left or trying to grow it. For the last two years I decided to try and let whatever I have grow and some of it is white and I go to hairdressers and get it coloured. The only reason I go hairdressers is because when I tried to do home dyes the colour was never what I wanted. For me dying it has never had an effect on my alopecia and it makes me feel better about what hair I have. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
