For meetings taking place in Boomerang: the group will have the use of a private meeting room for this group meeting. It is easily accessible from Dundee City Center. It is not much of a walk from the main bus routes and also has parking. It is well facilitated for anyone with disabilities.
Please get in touch with Lorna ahead of a meeting and let her know if you
intend to go along as she needs to keep track of numbers.Lorna's link with alopecia:
[To be completed].From Lorna:
"Since 2011, I have
been involved with the Scottish Alopecia Support group, travelling the
length and breadth of Scotland to bring people with Alopecia together.
My involvement with Alopecia UK goes back a little further than the 2013
Flash mob in Liverpool which I took part in. One of my plans is to get out into the local
community and raise awareness of the support that is available. My
ultimate desire is that there will never be another person young or old
who feels they are alone with Alopecia. A big dream I know, but if I can
help a little towards this goal I'll be happy."Need Advice or Support Outside of the Group Meetings?
main role of support group leads is to facilitate, and answer questions
about, the group meetings. Some may offer additional support and you
can see what is on offer from Lorna below:
- Lorna does not have her telephone number advertised but is happy to provide a listening ear via
telephone call at a time arranged via email.
- Lorna is happy to receive support questions from those in her local area and
will answer to the best of her ability based on her own knowledge and
experiences. Please be aware that any questions Lorna is unable to answer will be sent on to staff at Alopecia UK.
note that all of our support group leads are volunteers and do this in
their spare time. As such please allow up to a week for replies to
emails. The majority of group leads are not trained health
professionals and will be helping from the standpoint of being someone
who is affected by alopecia themselves and wanting to reach out and help
