ALOPECIA UK AND
Alopecia UK (AUK) and Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK
(AAR-UK) are pleased to announce that they have entered advanced negotiations
that both charities hope will lead to a merger.
So far discussions have gone extremely well, with a great deal of
agreement on objectives and strategy from both sides. It is anticipated that the merger, if
successful, will cement the combined charity as the foremost organisation, within
the UK, dedicated to supporting all those with Alopecia, raising awareness and
looking to drive research into a potential cure.
Whilst the final timetable has yet to be decided, both sets
of Trustees are keen to see a successful merger within the next six
months. Discussions are continuing and it
is hoped that the charities will be able to agree a final structure that suits
all concerned in the coming months.
Simon Ray, Chair of Trustees, for AUK said:
It was very
clear from the start that both charities shared common goals for all those with
Alopecia. I am therefore really pleased to be able to announce this potential
merger, on behalf of our charity, as it builds considerably on the growth that
AUK has seen in the last few years.
AAR-UK will bring valuable expertise in both research and fund raising
activities that will provide real benefit to the combined charity.
Hugh Gallagher, Chair of Trustees for AAR-UK added:
it was important that the time had come for there to be one national charity
for Alopecia and we are delighted that we have been able to have such positive
discussions with AUK regarding the merger.
There is still much work to be done to help all those with Alopecia but,
as a combined charity, we feel that challenge will be made easier.
